Abstract

The research focuses on evaluating how gyms with 4 to 5 floors in the Comas district, Lima, will behave in the event of a seismic event considering a nonlinear static analysis in the modelling and what their structural performance would be according to the parameters of the ATC standard. 40. The focus of the study lies in thoroughly understanding nonlinear deformations and their impact on structural behaviour, placing special emphasis on the effectiveness of obtaining significant results in the evaluation of framed structures. The study structures are in Comas, which is considered an area of significant seismic risk, classified as high, medium, and low risk levels. The objective also focuses on improving construction practices, identifying specific vulnerabilities, and positively impacting the security and sustainable development of the Comas community. Furthermore, the progression of failures in the analysed structure aligns with expectations, initially showing deterioration in the beams and later in the columns. It is preferable that the elements do not reach a critical level in terms of human safety until completing at least five charging cycles. In terms of behaviour, the most favourable direction for structures is along the x-axis. Once the elastic region is exceeded, the structure begins its deterioration process. According to the results of the comparative analysis between the X and Y axes, there is an increase of 23.06% in the maximum spectral response velocity in the Y axis compared to the X axis. Additionally, there is a significant reduction of -205.77% in the maximum displacement in the Y axis, reflecting a negative displacement in this direction. This data underlines the importance of considering multiple analysis axes to fully understand the seismic response of buildings.
