Chat GPT's Impact on Journalism and Training Future Journalists from an Educational Perspective

Abstract

This study explores the impact of Chat GPT on education and journalism, focusing on its potential as both an educational aid and a challenge to critical learning practices. The objective is to assess whether Chat GPT's integration benefits or hinders students and professionals, particularly final-year communications and journalism students. The research follows a qualitative, descriptive, non-experimental design, using semi-structured interviews with educators and practicing journalists to gather insights. The findings indicate that while Chat GPT enhances efficiency, personalized instruction, and content structuring, it raises concerns over data privacy, biases, and overreliance, which can hinder critical thinking and originality. The study underscores the importance of ethical use, transparency, and balanced implementation to mitigate these risks. Future research should expand on diverse educational contexts and long-term effects, emphasizing the role of comprehensive guidelines and critical assessment to maximize benefits while preserving educational integrity.
