Abstract

This research seeks to quantify the effects of various macroeconomic variables on bilateral copper sales transactions between business partners. For empirical evidence, the Commercial Gravitation Model developed by Krugman and Helpman (1985) and a database of commercial transactions covering the period 1988–2016 are used. The results obtained suggest that the distance between countries affects copper exports, its elasticity with respect to copper exports between 0.597 and 0.602 for dollar values of exports and between 0.340 and 0.356 for the amount exported.
