Abstract

This article presents the results of the stabilization of a subgrade clayey soil using an available and untapped residual material such as artisanal brick ash. 10%, 20%, 30% and 40% ash were added to the soil in relation to the dry weight, the soil being a clay with low plasticity. The following were carried out: a) X-ray diffraction analysis for the chemical characterization of both materials. b) Modified Proctor compaction test. c) California bearing ratio (CBR) test on pure soil and mixtures to determinate the characteristics of compaction and strength. The results showed an improvement of the mechanical and expansive properties of the soil stabilized with ash.
