Abstract
The subtitling of films and series in English has brought about conceptions about language. The aim of this article is to discover the linguistic ideologies surrounding English language subtitling. Methodologically, this is a qualitative study, where data are collected from virtual media. Among the results, five linguistic ideologies associated with cognitive and social advantages that hegemonically position English were found.
