Abstract

The scientific article presents an initiative aimed at solving the problem by utilizing the main waste as materials for designing a brick with different proportions. One of the objectives is to comply with the requirements established by Peruvian regulations. The work portrays the state of the art, revealing the significance with which plastics have endowed the construction sector. PET and HDPE have served as extensively utilized materials for bricks, concrete, pavements, and blocks, displaying noteworthy characteristics. Similarly, the materials section details the process of acquisition and the characteristics it possesses. Conversely, the methodology outlines the developmental process leading to the acquisition of samples and test data. Ultimately, this study proposes to utilize plastics with sawdust to craft a non-load-bearing brick that satisfies the requirements set forth by the regulations. This can be implemented in construction projects such as partitions and temporary modular homes. The results manifest after 7 days, indicating that the brick, composed of plastic and sawdust, fulfills the requirements specified by E.070 Masonry and NTP 331.017. The manufactured samples M1, M2, M3, and M4 yielded compression test results of 45.31 kg/cm2, 48.39 kg/cm2, 58.63 kg/cm2, and 64.79 kg/cm2, respectively, in comparison with the minimum parameters mandated by regulations (50 kg/cm2). Similarly, the maximum warping parameters will be scrutinized according to NTP 331.017, allowing for a maximum of 10 mm, contrasting with the maximum warping values derived from samples M1, M2, M3, and M4.
