Implementing Lean Office and Cloud Computing to Innovate the Management of Industrial Projects and Services in Peruvian SMEs

Abstract

Many companies require engineering models to optimize their processes, reducing process times and eliminating non-value-added activities to balance the gaps in the sector. The business services sector represents 4.58% of national GDP, relying primarily on professional, technical, and scientific activities. Therefore, this article aims to contribute to the service sector with methodologies and tools designed to reduce waste in administrative processes. A case study was developed in a water treatment services company implementing the standard work, Kaizen, Kanban supported by a Cloud Computing system to obtain better results reducing report lead times; as well as the identification and reduction of unnecessary processes, maintaining those with value. These results will be evaluated through a Value Stream Desing (VSD) comparing the current and future situation. The goal is to reduce the high frequency (75%) and percentage (124%) of delays in the delivery of services and projects, particularly in the development of reports by optimizing the process flow. This is expected to demonstrate the feasibility of combining Lean and Industry 4.0 tools to enhance administrative processes and, consequently, the operational performance of the company. The model will be validated through a literature review of lean implementation success stories in industrial service companies as a reference for the expected results in our case study, such as the decrease of 87% in the report lead time.
