La morte dell’autore e l’Intelligenza Artificiale

Abstract

Although artificial intelligence and generative artificial intelligence have outstanding achievements, evaluating their possibilities and drawbacks is still problematic. This paper analyzes the concepts of artistic authorship and creativity within the processes and aesthetic principles of generative AI. It demonstrates that neither AI nor the artists who use it can truly be considered as authors, because artistic authorship requires not only the development of original aesthetic, artistic, and technological content, but also, and above all, the design of interactive processes capable of establishing a meaningful relationship with the context, which AI cannot structurally possess. To support this thesis, through a systemic approach that combines the humanities and computer science, the developments of contemporary art, the peculiar properties of digital languages, and the limits of computational structures and AI models are evaluated. With this study, we hope to contribute to sustainable and inclusive digital development and improve educational methods' design without technocentric and economic biases.
