Abstract

The process of assembling an order or picking in distribution centers is manual in most cases. Past studies have shown the relationship between the performance of the operator and a work method designed, based on ergonomics rules. However, the management of changes when implementing a picking management model has not been evidenced until now. Therefore, this research study proposes a picking management model that aligns the elements of change management with those of a work-study and a validation method with five phases that will deal with the whole picking process. Validation presents a case study where the most relevant research result is the reduction of the damaged inventory from 4% to 1.5% and other evaluation indicators. Finally, conclusions of result analysis based on the validation of the model within a distribution center are presented.
