Abstract

The objective of this study is to provide a model for enhancing on-time delivery (OTD) in a business that specializes in the Peruvian market for fiber optic goods. Because they result in rework and financial losses, root factors influencing the packing and picking processes, such as incorrect order preparation and needless motions, were found. Applied research using a quantitative approach and quasi-experimental design was the methodology employed, utilizing tools for continuous improvement like Systematic Layout Planning (SLP), Poka-Yoke, Standardized Work, and 5S. Reductions in weekly packing errors, total operating time, and improvements in workplace order and control are among the key findings that demonstrate a notable increase in process efficiency and quality indicators. The study’s conclusions pertain to the optimization of internal logistics procedures in small and medium-sized technology-related businesses. The difficulty of reproducing the precise improvement circumstances in other businesses without a previous diagnostic evaluation is a notable restriction, though. The study’s practical implications include a methodical and quantifiable strategy for enhancing order fulfillment performance, which has a direct effect on customer happiness. This study is regarded as unique since it combines traditional techniques for continuous improvement with a targeted logistics strategy in a business that did not previously have standardized processes or a system for evaluating performance.
