Abstract

This paper proposes a solution composed of a mobile application and a web application. The design of the solution has been oriented to two groups of specific users, i.e., generators and recyclers, to integrate the processes in which both are participants through user-friendly interfaces. The formal waste pickers associations in the city of Lima work in precarious conditions with a complete lack of technological infrastructure to support their daily tasks. The proposed solution considers the needs of its users, allowing them to carry out a more effective waste segregation with the help of a simple barcode scanner integrated into an Android application. The solution also contributes to the recycler by helping him to collect and classify recyclable material. A web dashboard was also implemented for management and monitoring tasks. A validation in a test scenario was made for the generator, considering the state of emergency and policies of social isolation imposed by the Peruvian government and the municipality of Lima.
