Abstract

Adbstract- Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) bars are currently presented as a substitute for conventional steel, since GRPF bars grant certain properties, such as high tensile strength, corrosion resistance, strength degradation and durability, which are fundamental in the field of building construction and rehabilitation. This article presents a rehabilitation study throughout the use of GRPF bars as reinforcement for horizontal structural elements, specifically beams and slabs, with a significant degree of corrosion ≥50% in their reinforcement steel. The methodology applied to carry out the rehabilitation will be based on the joint work of GRPF bars and the technique of Inhibiting, Repairing and Strengthening (IRS), which is a restoration process that starts from the total extraction of the corroded steel and the affected concrete until the rehabilitation of the structural element.
