Abstract

This study presents an academic-industry collaboration between a microenterprise and undergraduate systems engineering students, implemented through a Business Intelligence laboratory using Scrum. Real organizational problems were integrated into a course-based project, enabling students to develop BI solutions through iterative and incremental sprints aligned with the course schedule. Power BI was used to develop the BI solutions, while Jira supported the monitoring of user stories throughout the iterative sprints. The experience suggests contributions to technical competencies related to data analysis, as well as transversal engineering skills such as teamwork and business context understanding. As a result, seven student teams delivered a total of twenty-one BI dashboards. The study highlights the potential of Scrum-based laboratory models to support practice-oriented learning in engineering education.
