N2 - This research aims to explore how Nussbaum's capability approach can be made visible in the writing of short films made by students. This serves to ponder on processes of construction of values and emotions during the virtual teaching of audiovisual writing during the Covid-19 pandemic, and how technology and ethics are linked to the formation of citizens. For this purpose, freedom as a principle of choice and the model of central capabilities were used as concepts. The methodological design is qualitative phenomenology, and an instrument that takes 10 central capabilities is used to evaluate 5 scripts written by third cycle students in a Peruvian university in the first semester of 2021. Two categories are used: the choice of capabilities and the values connected to the capabilities. The results show that there is an opposition that exalts the capacities of life, health, and integrity, while there is an absence of play, presence with nature, and control of the external. It is also identified that the symbolized values show subordination to the moral context and the safeguarding of loved ones. In conclusion, the meanings of these short films point to exhaustion in the face of adversity, characters with tensions produced by moral ambiguity, little connection with nature, and little joy and leisure.
