Resumen

This study aims to identify the sociocultural contact experiences that are part of the migratory process of young scholarship holders from the Beca 18 program. A qualitative methodology was adopted. Semi-structured interviews were conducted. The critical incident technique was applied to scholarship holders from the first and last years of study and to deserters from the program who are in a situation of poverty and extreme poverty from different areas of Peru. The results show that the most recurrent contact experiences are the linguistic and gastronomic aspects, interpersonal and intergroup relationships, traffic, clothing and personal grooming. In addition, discrimination and acculturative stress situations were evidenced due to these experiences.
