Resumen
The aim of this paper is to analyse the ideological discourses on the proposal to change the Peruvian flag. Among the results, it is observed that the proposal for change seeks a new representation of what is considered Peruvian based on vindication, while the positions of maintaining it reinforce the traditional feeling of homeland based on identity and nationalism. This opposition is explained on the basis of the ideological dilemma concept (Billig et al., 1988) proposed by Discursive Psychology (Potter & Wetherell, 1987; Potter & Wiggins, 2007). The paper concludes that the official discourse based on the foundational is stronger than the subaltern discourses that try to change the colours of the flag.
