Resumen

The objective of the present study was to psychometrically examine the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSS). The sample consisted of 907 students (53.4% women) between 17 and 26 years old from public and private universities in the metropolitan city of Lima. The measurement instruments were the EAG and the Positive and Negative Affect Scale (SPANAS for its acronym in English). The results demonstrated the unidimensionality of the instrument through the evidence of validity of the internal structure and its relationship with other constructs, demonstrating in the latter a convergence with positive affect and divergence with negative affect. The reliability was acceptable with the Omega coefficient, and the measurement invariance in gender was demonstrated. These results contribute to the potential usefulness of the EAG in Peruvian university students, recommendations for future studies are established.
