N2 - Part of the soils of the southern regions of Peru are composed of volcanic ashes, deposited and located in the mountainous depressions near the area of volcanic influence, the configuration of the stratum being variable, depending on the distance of the origin. These soils have mechanical characteristics that are not suitable for the execution of civil projects, low cohesion, maximum dry density less than or equal to 1g/cm3, differential settlements and high susceptibility to erosion due to rain and wind, these are characteristic of these soils. The present investigation proposes an exploratory study of the mechanical properties modified with the application of calcium oxide, in proportions of 4%, 6% and 8% with 3 days and 7 days of curing. The results showed that there is an increase in the cohesion value and friction angle according to the amount of lime used and the curing time.
