Resumen
This chapter offers a brief overview of the concepts gayspeak and camp talk, evaluating their applicability in analyzing telecinematic discourse and the portrayal of gay culture and subjectivities. It further introduces and discusses a series of categories to conceptualize queer language usage as a means of representing sexual and gender counter-normativity. These concepts are illustrated through examples from films and television series originally produced in English or Spanish. This exploration offers insights into the linguistic dimension of queerness, highlighting how language shapes nonnormative sexual and gender identities in on-screen representation.
