Resumen
Subtitling of films and series in English language learning is increasingly used. Their use responds to conceptions about language and cultural colonization practices. The purpose of this article is to identify and interpret the linguistic ideologies that English subtitling brings in relation to learning, as well as to analyze and disentangle from the linguistic decolonialism the monolinguistic and monocultural imposition that the English language brings. In methodological terms, a qualitative study is approached, based on the discursive study of web pages, forums and interviews. Among the results, it is found that linguistic ideologies promote the use of subtitles and the assimilation of English in their learning, and therefore arguments against the colonial and commercializing practice of inglinization are proposed.
