Resumen
The present research aims to explore the motivations behind the cyberactivism displayed by Peruvian influencers through Instagram –a social network where they exercise enormous authority as empowered subjects– mainly around issues related to feminist movements. Interactions with their “followers” are often decisive in public debate on the networks, coming to condition the dynamics of communication in the digital public sphere. The study concludes that Instagram, despite being a fertile ground for free expression, is not necessarily a consensus-building scenario, nor does it promote an ideal discussion framework, but rather is presented as a kind of digital collective graffiti. Influencers, despite being dispersed in various themes, feel moved to exercise cyberactivism in the face of social causes and assume the enormous capital of influence they hold as a responsibility through which they must seek a change in mentality and awareness among their followers.
