N2 - This study addresses the critical issue of intense nocturnal noise pollution emanating from nightclubs in Lima, Peru, and its profound impact on the well-being of nearby residents. Our research combines the principles of design thinking and the Lean Canvas Model to propose a comprehensive solution. We adopted phenomenological approach to conduct a case study to understand the pain points of affected residents and the challenges faced by local authorities. Based on this, we formulated a value proposition that centers around the establishment of a university start-up, integrating expertise in environmental rights, acoustics, and protective materials. The core problem lies in inadequate enforcement of noise regulations due to a lack of understanding and potential corruption, even in affluent neighborhoods. Our proposed solution involves educational programs, a reporting platform, advocacy for stricter regulations, and innovative acoustic solutions. Metrics for success include reducing noise complaints and increasing local authorities' knowledge. This holistic approach addresses both the symptoms and root causes of the issue. It aims to improve the quality of life for affected residents, reduce corruption, and foster a more peaceful coexistence between nightclubs and the community. This study contributes to the economy by promoting a more conducive environment for businesses to thrive while enhancing community well-being. It benefits society by improving public health and quality of life. Moreover, it advances science by providing a practical framework for addressing complex urban challenges, combining social and technical solutions effectively.
