N2 - In this article, we will seek to optimize the performance of the picking, by reducing or eliminating two identified problems, which are stock breakage and high times to collect products. Picking activity is of great relevance within warehouse operations, as the time in which it is carried out substantially influences the total order cycle. Optimizing human resources is critical, as a large percentage of storage costs come from the labor cost associated with picking activity. Faced with the identified problems, it is proposed as main methodologies of solution, Lean Warehousing and cycle counting. As a support tool, it was proposed to implement a warehouse-based radio frequency system. Under the implementation of the current proposal, a 24% reduction was achieved from the return times when picking up an order. Similarly, product search times decreased by 20%. As a result, picking efficiency increased by approximately 6%. Finally, it can be said that increased picking performance and efficiency can improve not only the warehouse, but the business performance.
