N2 - This article identifies the main research trends on reverse logistics published in major indexed databases between 2013 and 2022. The state of the art defines the concepts of reverse logistics, the environmental conditions of the supply, and the main logistics business practices for this model. The methodology uses the systematic literature review technique, following the PRISMA model. The results demonstrate a special concern for standardized processes of reverse logistics to mitigate environmental damage, the effects of value creation, the level of efficiency, the general logistics costs of its implementation, as well as its impact on the transformation of the traditional supply chain. Future research should prioritize analyzing reverse logistics as a strategic factor to improve companies' image and profitability, and consider communication and transparency mechanisms to increase user loyalty.
