Racism and the Representation of Andean Peruvian Women in Two Films by Claudia Llosa

Cinema is a key tool for shaping perceptions and reflections, influencing social identity. This work, from an interpretative paradigm and a qualitative approach, examines how racism and discrimination are represented in the non-Lima female characters of Madeinusa (2005) and The Milk of Sorrow (2009), directed by Claudia Llosa. Through a case study design and data collection and analysis techniques, the complexities of Peruvian women are explored and their voices are amplified. A content analysis guide was used as an instrument, allowing the examination of narratives that reflect the struggle against discrimination and contribute to the construction of cultural identities on screen.
