N2 - 7 major and great seisms have hit Perú in the last 7 years and most of these were in the quite remote Amazon rainforest and Andean high plateau regions. The fact that this may be overlooked both internally (including the seismic code) and externally, due to demographical and economic reasons, is highlighted here. In addition, a uniform nomenclature for Peruvian events is proposed, based also on the fact that, contrary to perception, most of these major earthquakes are in distant and less populated inland regions.
